GCRF Reaches $1 Million Goal

There is a full year of activities planned to assist in our continued fight against GIST. Walks include:
Sept 25th – 3rd Annual Oregon Walk for the Cute, LaPine State Park, LaPine, OR
Oct 16th – 2nd Annual GIST CANCER Walk for a Cure! Yakima,WA
Oct 24th – San Jose GIST Cancer Walk for a Cure, San Jose, [...]
A golf tournament will be held on Aug 30th to benefit The Tony Petruzziello Persistence Fund Inc. a non-profit organization designed to help raise money to fight GIST. The fund was set up to honor Tony, who passed away from this disease on May 23rd, 2008.
The event will be held at the Sky View Golf Club, 226 Lafayette Road. Sparta, NJ 07871.
Registration begins at 10:30 am and the driving range opens for warm up. Lunch in the Grill Room starts @ 11:00 am
Shotgun start @ 12:30 pm Scramble Format, then join us for a 1 HOUR OPEN BAR after your round / Awards dinner will follow. The Outing will include Driving Range, Practice Chipping and Putting Green, Golf Cart, Hot dogs and Burgers at the turn with complimentary beverages, 1 HOUR OPEN BAR, Awards Dinner and many Prizes. Please fill out the Registration Form, there is limited space available and the outing will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

The second annual GIST “Find the Cure” fundraiser held at the Riverview Restaurant in Oakdale, NY on April 28th raised over $13,000 to help in our battle against this devastating disease. We would like to thank Eleanor Svedi and all those who helped her put on this event. The commitment they have shown in creating a greater awareness of this disease is appreciated by all those whose lives have been affected by GIST.
The Gist Cancer Research Fund is proud to announce that we have raised over

We have awarded grants to the labs and institutions doing Gist research. This year’s presentations included:

Rockefeller Research Laboratories is at 430 East 67th Street, between York and First Avenues.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center, 70 Francis Street, Boston MA.
GCRF Donates $215,000 to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
At a recent ceremony at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the GIST Cancer Research Fund presented $165,000 to Dr. Cristina Antonescu’s Lab and an additional $50,000 to Dr. Ron DeMatteo’s Lab to help fund GIST research. The event took place on March 24, 2010 at the research facility in New York City.
The GCRF recently donated $165,000 to Dr. Anette Duensing Lab (at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute) to help find a cure for GIST.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you as well as everyone else

really overwhelmed and can’t tell you enough how much we appreciate what you
